Mirror eggs

While doing a lesson on food, I asked 5B what they ate for breakfast. Some responded with grandma's hot chocolate, toast, Kellogs...and one boy said, "mirror eggs." All I could think of were sharp shards of glass tearing a throat during a painful and teary swallow. But no, mirror eggs seem to be what Hungarians call a fried egg. The children drew it on the board about 5 times. I still can't understand the logic here. Is the yolk looking into the translucent turned white "mirror?"

Mirror mirror in the pan, why did I not become a chicken after all?

Dear Kat, are you still in Hungary. I wasn't even aware of that. Jeremy told me to have a look at this mysery. Anyway, mirror eggs are actually eggs with sunny side up. This is actually I think you call mirror eggs. And yes I think it's quite a usual breakfast in Hungary. It's almost like ham and eggs except ham is missing.

Hi Kat. I am a Hungarian living in the US, Arizona. This is amusing reading your experiences in Hungary. The term "mirror" egg is used for both the sunny side up and the overeasy type of eggs. I had a hard time not to say mirror eggs at restaurants at the very beginning. We eat it for breakfast, but a lot of times with vegetable soups (fozelek) as well.
Please keep up with the posting. Thanks.
