The Week in List

Having been swept up in the ripping winds of a creative tornado, I present to you, dear reader, what's been going on in my corner of Budapest in survey form...I'm getting sick of "walls of lead."

This week, I...

...finally finished reading McCarthy's Bar, by Pete McCarthy (ironically).

...told my 7B class that I didn't care if they noticed me chewing gum in the lesson, because they swear, eat food, drink, text, talk, listen to music, etc. when they're not supposed to.

...played a Connect Four tournament for 45 minutes with my private lesson Tom (game courtesy of one, Jeremy Jewett).

...made (including dough) and baked a stuffed crust pizza from scratch with Aran. Turned out good enough to take a picture.

...tried gumbo for the first time at Amber and Matt's teacher hostel party.

...proofread a passage of Maria's "Teach Yourself" Hungarian book in English and received some incredible cabbage, rice, and meat layered Hungarian dish in return.

...felt somewhat more of a strict teacher than I ever have before. Partly because I have to be and partly because I care less and less about what students think of me.

...started reading 1984, by George Orwell.

...thought more about what I could do with my life. Actually I feel like I'm back at square one, meaning the days reminiscent of a seven year old who wants to be the President or an actress with no hesitation. Photographer, travel writer....or maybe even a painter...
...then subsequently thought about having a different job every month for the rest of my life as to sample something from the entire platter.
...then finally scrapped that thought, knowing that having to constantly change gears and momentum, along with having a lack of foundation would grate on my inner core after a while.

...planned/planning way too long for my lessons.

...thought about how this blog entry might be a good lesson idea for writing about things in the past.
